Anniversary Calculator: Which Anniversary Is Next?
Enter your wedding date to see which anniversary is coming up, the day it falls on and how many days are left, its traditional gift, and exactly how long you have been married.
How the calculator counts the years
Your anniversary number is the number of full years since your wedding day. Married on June 14, 2016, you celebrated your 10th anniversary, tin, on June 14, 2026, and your next one, the 11th, falls on June 14, 2027. Until that date, you have been married 10 years, plus the months and days since your last anniversary.
The calculator counts calendar days, so leap years are included in the total. If you married on February 29, it gives your anniversary as February 28 in the years without one; many couples pick March 1 instead, and either is fine.
You can also enter the day you met or your first date. The years, months and days are then the time you have spent together. The gifts by year come from the wedding tradition, but they work just as well as ideas for a dating anniversary.
Milestone anniversaries and how couples mark them
- 1st: paper
- The first year is the one couples celebrate most. Paper suits it well: love letters, a framed print of the day, tickets for a show, or a book of your first year.
- 5th: wood
- The first big round number. Wood stands for strong roots: a tree to plant, a carved keepsake, a weekend in a cabin.
- 10th: tin or aluminum
- A decade together, often marked with a trip or a party with the friends who were there on the wedding day. The modern list suggests diamond jewelry.
- 25th: silver
- The anniversary families gather for. Silver jewelry, or the wedding photo framed next to a photo of the two of you today.
- 50th: gold
- Rare enough that everyone around the couple joins in, often with a party organized by the children and grandchildren.
- 60th: diamond
- The hardest stone, for a marriage nothing could wear down. Most couples celebrate it with family, over a meal and a lifetime of stories.
Traditional or modern anniversary gifts?
There are two lists in the US. The traditional one is the older list of materials: paper, cotton, leather, wood, tin. The modern one appeared in the 20th century and suggests other gifts for many years: clocks for the 1st, china for the 2nd, silverware for the 5th, diamond jewelry for the 10th. Both agree on silver for the 25th and gold for the 50th.
Neither list is a rule. Some couples follow one to the letter, others pick the gift that suits them better, or use the material as a theme rather than a shopping list: a paper gift for the 1st can be a handwritten letter as much as a book.
Ideas to celebrate on the day
Go back to where it started: the restaurant of your first date, the place you got engaged, the town where you married. Write each other a letter and read them aloud over dinner. Go through the photos of the year and print the best one, or recreate a wedding photo in the same spot.
Or tell your story in a book: a personalized comic book turns your years together into 24 comic pages, with both of your faces drawn as the characters, from how you met to the wedding and the habits only the two of you know. The calculator above gives the date to order it by to have it in time.

A gift for any year: the comic book of your couple
Whatever the year, a gift that tells your story never misses its mark. A personalized comic book turns your marriage into 24 comic pages, with both of your faces as the characters: how you met, the wedding, the homes, the trips and the habits only the two of you know. You create it by chatting for about ten minutes with our AI scriptwriter and sending one photo of each of you, then you choose the tone, sweet, teasing or cheeky, and write the dedication. The cover and the first page are free to preview before you order, and for the first anniversary it even follows the tradition, since a book is made of paper.
